Steinernema carpocapsae: insectenparasitair against nematode worms and several other insect larvae.

Application: in greenhouses and indoor plantings used against caterpillars of the family Noctuidae (night owls) and Pyralidae (among others Duponchelia fovealis), larvae of Tipulidae (crane flies) and larvae of the great pine beetle (Hylobius abietis). Appearance: 3rd larval stage is 0.5-0.6 mm long. Other stages develop inside the host.
Operation: actively search for their prey and penetrate them. The nematodes feed on the contents of the prey, with specific bacteria come from the intestinal tract of the nematode. These bacteria convert host tissue into products which can easily be taken up by the nematodes. The affected larvae die within a few days.
Climate: the moisture content of the soil must be high and the soil temperature between 14-33 ° C. Nematodes are sensitive to ultraviolet light (UV) so do not use in direct sunlight.
