Helen's Banana (Musa sp. "Helens Hybrid)

This magnificent species is probably a hybrid of Musa sikkimensis and Musa "Chini-Champa" and has very sweet, tasty fruit, very popular in the Darjeeling region of India. The Musa "Chini-Champa" is responsible for the quality of the fruit and the color: the red midrib, the red underside of the leaves, the white waxy leaf steal and the reddish strain. Musa sikkimensis seems responsible for the hardiness which ensures that the banana can grow up to 1700 meters. A unique intersection so. The fruits are full of seeds but the quality is very good.

Probably one of the few cold-tolerant, vruchtdragene bananas. Make sure you have adequate winter protection (packing strain in insulation) and protect young plants from frost yet.

Then sow seed and cutting soil. keep the soil constantly moist, cover with plastic wrap or glass and germinate in a warm place in the house (eg. in the sun or near a heater).
