Siberian kiwi (Actinidia kolomikta) is a relative of the kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa) and the mini-kiwi (Actinidia arguta). The creeper is 2-4 m high and has slender, purplish brown stems. The leaves are heart-shaped, coarsely toothed and 7.5 to 16 cm long. In young plants the leaves are green with red leaf edges. In plants, the leaves are white points from two years old and discolor them later to pink red. It is a dioecious plant, the male and female flowers occur on separate plants.
The plant blooms from May to June. A sheltered place in the sun gives the best results for the Dutch fruit garden. The flowers are about 1 cm in size, white and slightly fragrant. The fruits are yellowish, oval, 2.5 cm long and sweet. It is a very hardy species which temperatures of -30 ° C can survive up to -40 ° C. Here, in these parts, she is deciduous. Often, the male form is only grown for its ornamental value of the colorful foliage.
