Chinese licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis)

Chinese licorice resembles ordinary licorice and is also known as Gan Cao. It is a tall plant up to 1 meter with rhizomes that spread underground. These rhizomes are harvested in the fall after three years and the famous licorice. This species belongs to the 50 basic herbs of traditional Chinese medicine and is the most common herb found in almost any recipe. It would be good for almost any organ, but also improves the taste of medicines.
