Goji berry (Lycium Barbarum)

The plant originates Imported in China and in Europe in the 18th century. A common misconception is that wolfberries could be originated in the Himalayas. But the mountain is because of the cold unfit for the bush. The plant is grown in Western Europe and is also haggard. In Belgium and the Netherlands the plant grows among others along rivers and dunes. In North America, the plant is wild in some places.

The long, curved up to three meters long branches are to more than three centimeters provide long thorns. The berries are called "goji" commercially grown for consumption on plantations on the Yellow River in Ningxia autonomous region in China. They are picked by hand and consumed and exported both in China. The taste is fresher than currants.
