The lamp which simulates natural moonlight night observation makes it possible, without having to disturb the day and night cycle of the animal. The light emitted is bluish due to the use of blue glass. The heat generated by the bulb is minimal but enough to approach a tropical night temperature. The lower wattage of the lamps does not interfere with the natural drops in temperature at night.

The Exo Terra Repti Glo 10.0 is more associated with a desert environment and thus a very high UVB output. Deserts receive more direct sunlight compared to more humid regions because there are fewer clouds are present, there is a lower humidity and because there are no plants and trees block the light. Desert-dwelling species are therefore more exposed to UVB light than other reptiles. The lamp can also be used if there is, a dense mesh above the enclosure in order to ensure UVB-penetration. Mesh with fine mesh UVB penetration may reduce to 50%.
